Rick Trager didn't know his son was missing until he woke up to find a letter on his doorstep. He opened it, frowning as he noticed it wasn't post marked – whoever had left it had dropped it off for him.

Dear Mr. Trager,
As you can see, we have your son. I'm sure you are very familiar with the way that ransom demands work, what with your job being to find those kidnapped victims, but how does it feel now that it's your boy, eh? Are you going to pay the $2 Million ransom or do you think you can find him before time runs out for your precious little Joshie?
I look forwards to playing with you,
Joshua's Captor

Rick let out a deep sigh as he picked up the picture that had been tucked inside of the letter. It was unmistakably his son. The boy was looking at the camera, one of his eyes covered by his hair, the other looking sad and a little bit scared. He was shackled with what looked to be very, very heavy irons, and a couple of strips of black tape covered his lips, most likely keeping in a large wad of fabric. In Joshua's hand, he held a sad looking stuffed rabbit with the world "HELP" etched onto its stomach.

"Fuck." Rick sighed, running a hand through his hair. This was his only kid, and people usually only went after Joshua when he got in the way, but this time, Joshua had done nothing to deserve being kidnapped, and yet here he was, looking up from a ransom photo. Rick had a decision to make. Was he going to pay for his son's release or do what he always did when it was other people's children and try to beat the clock before the window of opportunity closed and he lost his son forever.
Anyways, this is the introduction of a new story, based on the popularity of Joshua, I decided to try something a little different. Instead of having his kidnapping be related to an existing case, well, his father must decide the best way to save his son before time runs out!

I doubt that this will be a long story, but we'll see. If you have any suggestions, let me know!

The photo of Joshia is, obviously, a manip.

A very interesting start, a shame it wasn't able to go anywhere, I know I'd have enjoyed reading more of it, so many possibilities.
