"Aw, all work out?" The man holding the water bottle smirked, walking over to me and harshly pulled the cloth and tape from my mouth while the second went behind me, undoing the tie. I spat out the cloth wadded up in my mouth and I looked over at my kidnappers.

Today, someone asked me a question that I've heard of people being asked, but shockingly, I can't remember anyone ever asking me. I was asked why I was gay. For a hot minute, I was incredibly offended. I wanted to blow my top and start screaming at them. I debated shouting "Why are you straight?" or some other snarky remark, but what good would that do? I sat back and thought for a moment. I'm gay because I am, I've always known that, but telling someone that, it should be obvious, but as I thought about it, it occurred to me that I wasn't taking upbringing into consideration.
